The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) is charged with the responsibility of setting up twenty two new Industrial Parks, nationwide, with a minimum of four new Parks every financial year.In 2008/9, the locations were Mbarara, Mbale, Soroti and Gulu. In 2009/10 they will be setup at Kasese, Kabale, Masaka and Arua.
A team of 15 Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Senior officials led by the Assistant Commissioner for Trade, Mr. Richard Kamajugo visited Kampala Industrial Business Park (KIBP) on 2nd July 2009. The team was received by the Director for Industrial Parks Development Division, Mr. Arthur Bwire Tukahirwa. Mr. Kamajugo reported that the purpose of their visit was to promote partnership between URA and UIA and the KIBP in particular.

The UIA Board constituted a subcommittee on 15th June 2009 to engage the Uganda Freight Forwarders Association (UFFA) with a view of determining whether UFFA could be allocated land on behalf of its members, or the land allocation would be done to individual members. The Subcommittee held its first meeting 0n 19th June at which UFFA was requested to submit a paper by 25th June 2009 detailing their concept of the FreightVillage and how it will work, and the time plan of activities for UIA and UFFA.UFFA subsequently submitted the requested paper on 26th June 2009.
